LEAD1 Statement on the Passing of Longtime Purdue Athletic Director Morgan Burke

On behalf of the LEAD1 Association staff and membership, we are saddened about the passing of longtime friend and colleague, Morgan Burke. Morgan served as the director of intercollegiate athletics at Purdue University for more than 20 years and was also the past president of LEAD1.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The LEAD1 Association (“LEAD1”), which represents the athletics directors of the 130-member schools of the Football Bowl Subdivision (“FBS”), today released the following statement on behalf of President & CEO, Tom McMillen, regarding the recent passing of longtime Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke.

On behalf of the LEAD1 Association staff and membership, we are saddened about the passing of longtime friend and colleague, Morgan Burke. Morgan served as the director of intercollegiate athletics at Purdue University for more than 20 years and was also the past president of LEAD1. Morgan’s leadership with our organization was instrumental and I appreciated his counsel in my early years as President of LEAD1. His contributions and wisdom will be missed by so many in college athletics. We extend our sympathies to his family and to all those who loved and admired him.”
